Ramallah – PalPay, the electronic payment solutions company and a member of Bank of Palestine Group, has announced a humanitarian donation to support 350 affected families in Gaza as part of the Group’s relief bridge to assist our people in the Gaza Strip. The donation aims to enhance the emergency response of Save the Children International, specifically in aiding displaced children in hospitals and shelters.

Mr. Thaer Hamayel, General Manager of PalPay, stated:

“The company’s Board of Directors has decided to allocate this support and place it at the disposal of Save the Children to cover urgent needs, particularly as the organization deals with critical child protection and care issues in emergencies.”

Hamayel added:

“At PalPay, especially during this crisis, we are deeply committed to supporting children affected by the war in Gaza. This contribution will strengthen the organization's ability to care for Palestinian children and youth, who represent the foundation of the next generation of our people.”

He affirmed:

“This contribution reflects PalPay’s humanitarian and social responsibility toward our people in Gaza, following the recent aggression, and stems from our awareness of the urgent needs of children in terms of medical care, relief, basic supplies, and food security.”

Hamayel also praised the ongoing efforts of Save the Children to provide life-saving assistance to many families in the Gaza Strip.

From his side, Mr. Jason Lee, Country Director of Save the Children International in Palestine, commented:

“We welcome any contribution that helps alleviate the dire situation faced by children in Gaza. Every day without a permanent ceasefire, an average of 100 children are killed. The situation in Gaza is catastrophic — a stain on our shared humanity. Save the Children International calls for an immediate and permanent ceasefire to save and protect children’s lives and to allow unrestricted humanitarian aid and the resumption of commercial goods into Gaza to prevent children from dying of hunger and disease.”

Despite the challenges of securing supplies and overcoming logistical hurdles, Save the Children and its partners continue expanding their humanitarian response across all governorates of Gaza, prioritizing life-saving activities such as food aid, water and sanitation services, and shelter support.

By January 2024, thanks to PalPay’s donation and other contributions, Save the Children had delivered over USD 1.6 million in aid to more than 8,000 families in Gaza through PalPay’s services. The organization considers these donations a testament to the vital role of civil society and the private sector in reaching those in need and reaffirms its commitment to serving the growing number of affected children in the Strip.

Save the Children International has been working with Palestinian children since 1953 and has maintained a permanent presence in the occupied Palestinian territories since 1973. Its core mission is to ensure that children survive, learn, and are protected from all forms of abuse. With operations in 116 countries, the organization places the most marginalized and deprived children at the center of its work, helping them survive, thrive, and reach their full potential.

This initiative is an extension of the ongoing support that the Bank of Palestine Group continues to provide to Gaza and its people — with the hope of safeguarding our nation and our families in Palestine.
